The TECC Summer Institutes (TSI) are 2-week summer programs in rural China where U.S. and Chinese university students work in teaching teams to bring a modernized curriculum that they design to traditional classrooms. TSI is different because volunteers not only work with the students but also with the teachers, training them in basic computer skills and more effective teaching methods so that the volunteers' impact is sustained long past the two weeks.
With some planning, you can fit TSI around your other summer plans! All expenses are paid except for your plane tickets, and no Chinese experience is necessary.
