| ¡¡ Project Highlights: July 2005 Idea Originated The idea of protecting minorities and their cultures was originated by enthusiastic young students: Brian from Yale Univ., Daniel Lee from Stanford Univ., Albert RUAN and Juliet ZHOU from Tsinghua Univ. October29th, 2005 Project kick-off and team building Six students, five from Tsinghua Univ. and one from Peking Univ. who are highly motivated by the theme of this fresh idea got started on this project.
Juliet and FAN Chen had an interview with SUN Lingping, an official of China¡¯s Ministry of Cultures. They discussed cooperation potentials and asked for advices from SUN Lingping.
November 9th, 2005 Tele-interview with Chair of Research Center in Minority Culture Studies Tele-interviewed with Mr. FANG Tie, Chairman of Center for Studies of Chinese Southwest's Borderland Ethnic Minorities of Yunnan University. Mr. FANG offered professional help and advices on how to conduct cultural projects.
December 1st, 2005 Intense discussion generated clarified mission and drafted an operable plan.
December 3rd, 2005 The first draft of proposal completed.
December 9th, 2005 Close collaboration between TECC and Qianzhong Culture Promotion Association was established.
December, 2005 Team development Six new members joined the team, including three from Peking Univ., one from Tsinghua and two from Stanford Univ.
During the meeting with Professor Thornton, we introduced our idea and what we had done to promote it. Mr. Thornton gave us a lot of guidance and encouragement to carry it out, and introduced more resources for help.
December 2005 Website Construction started.
Events to come: January 2006 Seek cooperating potentials with 100 dollar-laptop projects January 11th, 2006 Deadline of SEF Application January 15th to 20th, 2006 On-site survey in Anlong county, Guizhou Province. ¡¡ |
